Hello to all of you who may be watching or reading this message!! Pastor Bruce Jones here and I hope to both encourage and challenge you in the wake of events which will have left you very troubled. You could perhaps call this message a Public Service Announcement… and, if you are watching or reading this in the setting that I am envisioning in my mind right now, this will be THE MOST IMPORTANT public service announcement you have ever heard.

This message will also be posted on our church website, www.chalmerschurch.com and paper copies of it will be left in conspicuous places throughout our church building and throughout my own home in Kincardine, ON…. Additionally, others of the Chalmers Church family may make digital and/or hard copies of this message available to their own families and friends by their own means.
These last few weeks since the beginning of September, 2025, have certainly been a number of wild and crazy weeks in the life of this world. Just when you think that the world can’t take anymore upset and challenge, more gets piled on top of the craziness we’re already dealing with. The enduring message I want to leave with you today will be a message you are watching, listening to or reading that comes in the wake of even more unsettling events; perhaps the most upsetting event in the modern history of the world. You may be watching or reading this in late September, 2025--- or it may be many years after that--- but this message is for you!
I’ve entitled this message, “In The Event Of Emergency…Read this!” You could also call it, “In The Event Of Emergency… Watch This!” Whether you are watching my recording of this message or simply reading the text of it, I hope to offer you some reassurance in the midst of an event that has probably shaken you to your core. In the end, the message is “don’t despair… there is still hope.” But let me explain in some detail what you are going through right now.
First, I’m going to paint the probable picture of what you’ve just experienced…. Then talk about what is probably going to happen around you in the short term. After that, I’m going to challenge you with what you need to do right now…. Followed by, in general terms, what is going to happen in the days and years to come. In the end, I’m hoping that this will be encouraging for you--- but I can’t sugar-coat it, your next few years are probably going to be extremely difficult years to endure.
First of all, you are probably wondering…. WHAT HAS JUST HAPPENED?
Here’s the scenario you find yourself in right now. Even though I’m not there with you, the Bible has given us enough clues to piece together this rather unsettling event--- so, I can say with some amount of certainty that you have just lived through what the Bible calls the Rapture of the Church. Now, the word “Rapture” doesn’t appear in our English Bibles--- it is actually a Latin word…. Our English Bibles use the term “caught up”. Now, please listen to this message in its entirety--- 30 minutes of explanation now will save you literally an eternity of regret!!
Jesus Christ Himself said this in the book of Matthew--- the first book in the New Testament in the Bible…Matthew 24:36-44… speaking about this very thing that just happened in your day, Jesus said…
36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[a] but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
---in fact, the whole of Matthew 24 and 25 give us some good teaching from Jesus about the times of the end… I would encourage you to read that--- in fact, a VERY STRONG encouragement coming from everything I’m going to tell you is that you need to begin reading your Bible with a kind of intensity you’ve never had before. You need to take in the words of God….all is not lost but you need Him desperately!!
There are a few other places in the Bible where we get a bit of clarity about what just happened to you…. Jesus also said this to His followers, as it is recorded in the book of John --- the 4th book of the New Testament… John 14:1-3….
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
That is what has just happened--- Jesus has come back and taken all Christians on the earth to be with Him. You could also look into the first letter of the Apostle named Paul to the church in the city of Thessalonica--- 1Thessalonians 4:13-18 for a rather dramatic description of the events that you’ve just experienced. There are other places in the Bible that describe this--- some of them kind of difficult to interpret. In fact, most of the Bible’s prophetic literature about the end times will be difficult to make sense of--- until the events happen.
So, when you all of a sudden couldn’t find a whole bunch of people--- most of your church family was all of a sudden gone; some of your “religious nutty” relatives/friends mysteriously disappeared, perhaps even your spouse or some very close friend just vanished without a trace—and you know it’s not just local; you’re hearing stories of it happening all around the world ---what happened was that Jesus caught them up in the air to be with Him. They’ll be coming back with Jesus at some point in the future—but the immediate prognosis for life on earth for you is a tough one… but, like I say, all is not lost!!
In the wake of all of this, first of all, the world is going to have to recover from the unimaginable tragedy of losing a billion or more people all at once. Most likely there has been mass chaos on the roads with accidents everywhere…. That’s because all of a sudden all kinds of driverless vehicles went careening into ditches and highway barriers all over the world. Planes fell out of the sky and mass panic has ensued. There are desperate people wandering everywhere, in a daze, some looking for answers, some just looking for their loved ones--- never to find them.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg of mass hysteria--- I won’t go into too much detail because you know, you’re living in the midst of it. But you need to know, this is all happening because all the Christians in the world have been taken Home to be with Jesus--- just like the Bible said would happen.
Now, some of you may be just incredulous that you are still here---- after all, aren’t you a good church attender? You’re a good person. You’ve tried to be kind. Your whole family is a Christian family…. Why are so many of them gone, yet you are still here living in the chaos of the world? God must have made a mistake!!!
No, my friend--- He makes no mistakes. The only explanation is that you were kind of playing at being a Christian---- but you’ve never really begun a relationship with Jesus Christ. You were a “Christian” essentially only because you lived in a family for which a “Christian heritage” was common. If you had been brought up in a Hindu family, or a Muslim family, you would have thought of yourself as Hindu or Muslim. I’m going to tell you what you need to do right now but first, let me explain what is most likely going to be happening around you in the short term…
So, what’s just happened? All the world’s Christians have been caught up by Jesus to be with Him---just like the Bible said would happen… next question…
WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN IN THE SHORT TERM?
First of all you need to realize that this is not the end of God’s plans---- the eschatological timetable of God continues and you are not lost beyond hope. You see, “eschatology” is the word that theologians use to describe the “end times” --- and, with Christ having raptured His people, the end times have fully begun!!
Most likely the mass chaos caused by the sudden disappearance of a billion or more people around the world will lessen as time goes by. The world will get back to an uneasy kind of routine. Politically speaking, many people will actually rejoice because finally many of the “conservative-leaning” voices in society will be gone. They will see this as a tremendous victory for any cause that is antithetical to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Just like many people rejoiced over the death of Charlie Kirk in the United States in September of 2025…. Just like many people rejoice all over the world when Christians are persecuted and put to death… so too will many hail this as a wonderful break for their cause. Finally all those holier-than-thou Christians are out of the way…. Forget how this happened, these people will just rejoice that they can finally dominate the world politically like they’ve wanted to do for a long time!
But there will not be unity in the world--- take away all Christians and you will lose much (not all but much) of the gracious call to conversation and open sharing of ideas without repercussions and violence… I’ve thought a lot about this recently… When we stop communicating, and doing so respectfully, that’s where murderous thoughts come from…. That’s where feuds come from… that’s where bitterness and rivalry and unforgiveness start growing into big, huge, relationship-ending conflicts.
But conversation, communication, even debate and disagreement--- (but with an agreement to disagree agreeably and a commitment to respectful dialogue)--- that is what keeps evil at bay… that will be largely lost when the Christians of the world are gone…
Whenever we start thinking that the best way to get our views heard is to silence or humiliate or kill or somehow get rid of the other side--- we’ve already begun to slide down a slippery slope!
The slope into further chaos and anarchy will get worse in the coming days. Eventually a person will emerge that will supposedly unite the world--- but this “unity” will be brittle, false and based on trickery and lies.
So, in the short term, there are bumpy days ahead for you and for all who live to see such times. But, like I said, all is not lost!!
So, my next thought for you revolves around…
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO RIGHT NOW…
My friend, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW IS TO GET YOUR LIFE RIGHT WITH GOD!!!
You may have heard the nugget of what is called the Gospel--- or the Good News--- before; but you need to act on that news and do it today!!
You see, God loves you--- He created you and He wants to be your very best friend--- He has provided the way for you to know and relate to Him… but He won’t force His will on you. You must choose Him.
The most important verse in the whole Bible, John 3:16, says this… “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
This “believing in” Him--- that Jesus talked about and that John wrote down for us means a trusting, submitting reliance on Jesus… He is the Way, He is the Truth, He is the Life and the only way to peace with God.
So, my friend, today, right now you need to simply…
Repent… that means, turn around and go the other way… you were going in a direction away from God… walking on your own strength, trusting in your own concoction of beliefs based only in what you thought was good. That was, essentially, you worshipping yourself as your own God. Your heart and your life direction were pointed away from a relationship with the true and only real God of the universe.
So, repent, turn the other way--- turn toward Jesus with a submissive spirit that’s willing to do things His way…. And, as you repent, choose to…
Believe/Trust in Jesus Christ----the Bible says, “All who call on the name of the Lord will be saved”--- and, as you believe in Jesus, trusting that He can save you, He promises that He will. You will probably go through difficult times ahead, but in the end, you will be with Him…. And with those of us that Jesus has just taken out of this world.
In fact, the Bible talks about those of Christ’s people who come through a great time of tribulation; in Revelation 7:14, John (who wrote the book of Revelation based on a series of dreams God gave Him) sees a great multitude of people worshipping Jesus--- it was a powerful picture. One of the leaders of the worshipping choir tells John this…
“These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb (the Lamb is Jesus)
This guy goes on to tell John this…. “They are before the throne of God and serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will spread His tent over them. Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; He will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
This is a picture of a group of many thousands worshipping God and trusting Jesus… and what’s unique about this group is that these people are just like you… they’ve missed the Rapture of the church because they weren’t trusting Jesus when He returned to take all the Christians away… but they came to trust in Jesus and serve Him even though they lived through this terrible time afterwards. And God promises to protect and care for them and eventually take them Home with Him too…. You can be one of those!! In fact, there will be many more millions---- just like you--- who will choose to follow Jesus now. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if the total number of people who turn to Jesus in your time now will exceed even the number of believers that Jesus has just taken up to be with Himself!
Repent, trust in Jesus…. Then I’d encourage you to move Heaven and earth to find others just like you who have come to trust in Jesus--- forget about denominationalism and just form a community with them--- a family--- that’s what a church is supposed to be. Make your new goal to live in harmony, love and community with these other new followers of Jesus too!!
Along the way, all of you need to…
Start reading your Bible… devour it with a new found joy and excitement. Start by reading the New Testament—but make sure you read all of it. The Bible reveals the heart of God to us. If you don’t have a Bible, come over to Chalmers and grab one for yourself--- order one on Amazon—I’m sure you can still get Bibles even when the Christians are gone—God says that His word (both His spoken words and the written words in the Bible) will never pass away…
Let me encourage you with three more things you can do right now…. Repent (or turn around toward God instead of away from Him), Trust in Jesus, Find other Christians, Read your Bible, and, as you work with your new believing friends…
Offer hope to others as you explain how they can be right with God through trusting in Jesus. Now is the time for people to be given the opportunity to believe in Jesus like you have. Take some time, explain to them what has just happened, give them hope like I’m trying to give to you… if I’m reading the Bible right, the time is still short before God wraps up all of history and initiates His full Kingdom on earth… so everything you do to help others find a relationship with Jesus will have everlasting benefits!!
Here's another thing….Use the Chalmers Church building (or whatever church building you can find around you) to be a hub for your ministry to bring others to trust in Jesus as well, while there is time… don’t let the church buildings in the world become derelict or destitute. You may find that more searching people than ever before will stream through those doors. Most of us who’ve led those ministries are now gone--- but you don’t need any special abilities to pastor or lead these people. Why don’t you step up and lead?
Just a very practical point here---- you don’t have to break into the church here at Chalmers--- there is a hidden key hanging in the eaves of the extension off the north end of the church--- it’s the least secret “secret” key ever known to mankind. Alternatively, many of the church leaders have church keys as well--- you can find one by looking through our keys—we don’t need them anymore!!
Last thought about what you should do right now…
Don’t just bury this message---- spread it to as many people as possible--- let the video be watched by as many people as possible, let the written message be read by as many as possible; duplicate it, read it and be encouraged that God has great plans for you--- submit to Him and trust Him. He will bless you, provide for you and help you bring others into His family as well. I look forward to meeting you one day and serving our Saviour in Heaven forever!!
But, before I leave you, let me give you some thoughts about what the Bible says will happen in the remaining days of earth’s history…. Read it for yourself; it’ll probably all start making more sense now than ever before… but here’s kind of a “Cole’s Notes” (or “Cliff’s Notes” if you’re an American!) version of what you should expect in the years ahead…
First of all, all throughout the remaining years before God makes everything new, you should expect diabolical opposition, originating in the halls of power, toward everything you now believe and stand for.
The prevailing Christian ethic and a respect for the authority of the Bible shaped the western civilization for the last many centuries… all of western thought and culture was based on a belief in the God of the Bible… and most western countries are still oriented that way even though many, if not most, of the political leaders aren’t individuals who followed and loved Jesus.
You know that by now since most of them are still with you!
In addition, and I referred to this already, much of the strength of political conservatism has been drained away because many of these folk were followers of Jesus. This will leave political conservatives at a distinct disadvantage in the days to come. I’m not saying you have to vote conservatively to be a Christian--- you’ll just find that a larger percentage of Christians tend to be on the conservative side of the political spectrum. Enough about politics…
You will find, though, a general disregard for the things of God will prevail, especially among the authorities who are, let’s face it, desperate right now to restore some kind of order to a society that has been ravaged in recent days…
You’ll find there will be an uptick in the number of people who will try to sway others to trust them to be the heroes for your times. There will, perhaps, be people who come up with all kinds of convincing methods to prove that they are the leaders the world needs right now. Most of those methods just amount to smoke and mirrors… and most of those supposedly caring leaders are really just charlatans making themselves rich and powerful as they prey on the fears of a world that’s more broken now than ever before. One such leader is the one that the Bible calls the “anti-Christ”---which perhaps more than anything refers to an anti-Christian spirit and sentiment that will increasingly spread across the earth… We thought that anti-Christian spirit and sentiment was bad before… but it’s only going to get worse in the days to come…
If I’m reading my Bible correctly, you will find that the world will descend into a period of time that the Bible calls “The Great Tribulation.” The passage I read from Revelation 7 alludes to that name…we’re talking times of trouble and heartache and political upheaval the likes of which the world has never seen. But God is merciful--- those days will not be prolonged for too long…. They will last only years, not decades or centuries. Many theologians and Bible scholars, people way smarter and more learned than me, say that the Great Tribulation will last between 3 ½ to 7 years.
Then, here are some other events on God’s prophetic timetable--- all of them will seem a lot more imminent now that the Rapture has happened. I don’t know the exact timing of all of these things; nor exactly what each of them is going to look like--- nor the exact order of all of them--- but you find Biblical support for these things throughout the Bible too…
The Rapture (as I’ve been saying and as you’ve experienced--- that moment when all believers in Jesus were swept out of this world to be with the Lord) needs to be viewed as a separate event from the Return of Christ to the earth; even though they may or may not happen very close together. Sometime in your future, hopefully soon, Jesus Christ will return personally and bodily---He will set up His throne in Jerusalem and will reign in great power and glory. People will stream to Him and the earth will be purified as He and His loved ones will reign for a thousand years on a Garden-of-Eden-like planet! That is what the Bible calls the Thousand Year Reign of Christ on the earth.
Somewhere in there, probably before that time, perhaps after, there will be the Battle of Armageddon, a final military battle on the plain of Megiddo in Israel. I’ve been there and seen this area… it’s an agricultural plain right now, with soil kind of like what we have here in the regions of Huron, Bruce and Grey counties here in Ontario. You can see that plain from Mount Carmel, the place where Elijah faced the Prophets of Baal back in the days of King Ahab. Even on the sunny day when Ruth and I were there, I could sense a kind of foreboding and brooding presence, almost as if all the spiritual entities in the universe were waiting there for that one final battle…
The Bible talks about the Day of the Lord which refers to the destruction of everything we know and the unveiling of the New Heavens and the New Earth.
We also read about the White Throne judgment, where Christians will be given their Heavenly rewards and those who rejected Jesus meet their final doom--- we read of Satan’s (the devil, the accuser, Lucifer, the fallen angel) final doom when he is thrown into the Lake of Fire never again to torment another soul … All of these (and more) are referred to in the pages of the Bible—but nowhere do we see the definitive, indisputable order in which they will all happen. And that, I believe, is a good thing... because what you are called to do right now is believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ; trust in the name of the One who is God and Who loves you with an everlasting love. Stay close to Him and let Him lead you in the coming days.
I’ve poured a lot on you in the last few minutes--- but it’s just enough to get you pointed in the right direction!! We’ll see you soon--- those of us who have gone ahead look forward to returning with Jesus and joining you as we seek to put this planet back together again under the control and leadership of our Lord Jesus Christ!
Let me close with the final words in the Bible---- these words are good enough for now… stay strong until you meet the Saviour in person as well. Jesus Himself said,
“He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.”
